Alibaba Expands AI and Cloud Infrastructure with New South Korea Data Center
Alibaba Cloud is doubling down on its South Korean presence with a second data center, fueled by its $52.9 billion global AI and cloud investment push. The expansion targets surging demand from local enterprises for advanced AI solutions, building on its 2022 Seoul launch that already serves clients like Univa and Naver's Snow.
The move intensifies competition in a market where SK Telecom and Amazon Web Services are jointly developing a 103-megawatt AI data center. Alibaba's 87-zone global footprint now leans harder into AI, with CEO Eddie Wu declaring it the company's top priority following the launch of its Qwen3 large language model series.
